Glenbow College is regulated by Private Vocational Training regulation of Alberta. The College expects students to pay all balances according to arrangements made with the School’s Finance Department. All fees are payable as specified in the international student’s payment plan agreed during enrollment. Students are also financially responsible for all charges incurred after the Enrollment Contract has been signed.
Students are informed of all fees related to a program of study during the admission process. Students are required to speak to the Financial Administrator in the case of withdrawal, dismissal, changing their course load, or undertaking any other major change in the course of study.
Tuition Fee Phased Deposit and Schedule
International students are required to pay the non-refundable $500.00 application fee at enrollment. $250.00 of which is credited towards the first tuition deposit once an international student joins the program (Section 14.3 of the Private Vocational Training regulation). Below is a schedule of the expected tuition fee deposits to a “Holding Account”.
- A minimum of 50% (less the $250.00) of the tuition fee is due as a deposit eight (8) weeks prior to the course start date. This fund is held in a holding account, which acts as a tuition deposit and will only be accessed as per the Phased collection schedule provided in the Payment Plan, given that the student has been granted a study permit and joins the program on the program start date.
- The remaining 50% of the tuition fee is due within eight (8) weeks of the course start date.
Tuition Fee Phased Collection and Schedule
Tuition Fee that is held in the holding account is collected by Glenbow College as per the Phased Collection Schedule:
First Collection: 35% of the tuition fees upon arrival and registration at the institution i.e program start date
Second Collection: An additional 25% of the tuition fees collected once 50% of the program benefit has been delivered or once 50% of the program completion.
Third Collection: the balance of the tuition fees is collected once the majority (90% or more) of the program benefit has been delivered.
Students who do not pay fees as agreed or do not make a satisfactory arrangement to pay tuition and other charges, will be suspended or dismissed from Glenbow College. All relevant parties including Immigration, Refugee & Citizenship Canada will be informed of such action(s).
Refund and retention of fees before training begins
If a student terminates a student contract before the vocational training begins, Glenbow College is entitled to retain any registration fee that has been paid, and regardless of who paid it. Glenbow College shall refund any tuition fee that it has accepted, if the student contract i.e. enrollment contract is terminated before the vocational training begins or within four business days of signing it (Section 15 of the Private Vocational Training Regulation.
The Students are also entitled to tuition fee refund if Glenbow College terminates the enrollment contract before the Program begins (Section 16(2) (a) of the Private Vocational Training Regulation) and if the Program does not begin by the start date as per the enrollment contract and the student choose to terminate the contract as a result (Section 16(2)(b) of the Private Vocational Training Regulation).
Refund of tuition – After training begins
If a student contract is terminated after the vocational training begins, Glenbow College is entitled to the following amounts of the tuition fees (Section 17 of the Private Vocational Training Regulation):
- when 10% or less of the vocational training has been provided, 25% of the tuition fees;
- when more than 10% but 50% or less of the vocational training has been provided, 60% of the tuition fees;
- when more than 50% of the vocational training has been provided, 100% of the tuition fees.
If the College has received tuition fees in excess of the amount that the licensee is entitled to, the licensee must refund the excess amount.
Payment of refunds
A refund of a student’s tuition fees or incidental fees will be paid (a) to the student, or (b) in the case of a student who has an outstanding student loan in respect of the vocational training for which the refund is being provided, to the lender that made the student loan and (c) If Glenbow College received payment of a student’s tuition fees from a government, agency or person other than the student, any refund of those tuition fees will be paid to the government, agency or other person.
A refund must be paid to the third party referred to the extent that that party paid the tuition fees. If Glenbow College is required to refund any tuition fee or incidental fee, the refund must be paid not later than 30 days.
